Laser gum treatment

Gum disease is a very widespread problem. Bleeding gums, bad breath, exposure of root because of gum disease, loosening of teeth because of gum and bone infection, diabetes, are some of the situations which might require laser gum treatment. The advantage of using lasers is that the gums are not cut. Lasers are used to clean and remove the harmful bacteria from the infected area. There is no need for anaesthesia and the procedure is painless.

Laser gum treatment procedure

1

Local deposit cleaning: Plaque and local deposits are removed with special instruments

2

Laser placement: the fibre optic tip of the laser is applied to the infected area

3

Bacterial removal: The laser disinfects the infected tissue both above and inside the gums. It penetrates the layers of tissues and cleans the area of bacteria upto the bone level. Since the laser is highly precise, it kills only the damaged tissue and leaves the healthy tissue intact.

4

Sealing the area: the biggest advantage of using a laser is that it helps the blood to clot and seal the area while disinfecting. There is no post operative bleeding or discomfort.
